We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. (2 Corinthians 5:8)
There is such a thing as eternal life. Our bodies are temporal, but who we are is eternal. Sin has power over the body. These bodies of ours will die. Nevertheless the Bible is clear for the believer, these mortal bodies will one day be resurrected. The great question is where will we spend eternity? For those who have placed their faith and trust in Christ, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. This present life is to be enjoyed. Let us live it to the fullest, but let us likewise realize that there is more to life than our years of days. We are on this ball called earth for a very short time. Eternity is timeless. There is a heaven and there is a hell. These are real places reserved for those who merit being there. Where we will be is based on what we do with the person of Christ. If we reject Him, we condemn ourselves. If we receive Him He saves us. All of eternity is hinged on what we do with Him.
