Hear, my son, and receive my sayings, and the years of your life will be many (Proverbs 4:10-12)
Wise heeded instruction prospers to the fullest extent of life. It brings both longevity and success. Whether in religion, business, politics, family or even sports, those who receive wise training flourish at their endeavors. Those who insist on cutting their own paths through life's thicket may eventually arrive at their destination, but they will do so marred and wounded. Their steps will be more than hindered and running will be out of the question. I am not speaking of the entrepreneur, pioneer or the explorer. These will always follow wise counsel and prudent ways. I am speaking of the unteachable, stubborn and prideful. Their lives are evident by their constant hindrances and continued stumbling. The teachable appear to follow the path of good fortune. They learn from their mistakes and even more so from the mistakes of others. They are quick to listen and heed wise sayings.
