For you are a holy people to the Lord your God, and the Lord has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all people who are on the face of the earth. (Deuteronomy 14:2)
The apostle Peter said it this way, “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people.” You and I are children of the King. God says that we are special. Therefore, we need to live as if we are a people chosen by God. The world needs to see that we are different. We are to live to a higher standard. Our character is to be that of Christ Himself. Our “yes” is to mean yes, and our “no” is to mean no. As God’s special treasure, we are to be people of praise and worship. Should not a royal priesthood convey worship and praise? Shouldn’t we manifest our love for God by loving each other? There is no room for a holy people to be filled with only self-interests. Being above all people of the earth is not to be a place of arrogance and presumption. It is to be a place of humility and service. It is for this reason God has chosen us. Let us therefore live up to our calling in Christ.
