For all seek their own, not the things which are of Christ Jesus. (Philippians 2:21)
Someone once said, "It is not that others are so much against you as it is that they are so much for themselves." Think about your own ambitions and desires and you will find that the same applies with regard to your attitude toward others. How much more then does our self-centeredness alienate us from the things which are of Christ Jesus? When we find ourselves too busy to pray, read our Bibles or fellowship with God's people, we will inevitably find that our business is based on seeking our own instead of the things of Christ. Here's what I know: the more I seek the things of God the more the things of God are what I need. Whenever I endeavor to put God first in my life, my life works much better. Whenever I seek His will instead of my will, His will becomes my will. The greater position Christ has in my life, the greater my life. I likewise know that it is a constant struggle "For all seek their own, and not the things of Christ Jesus."
