There was a man in their synagogue with an unclean spirit. And he cried out, saying… “I know who You are—the Holy One of God!” (Mark 1:23-24)
It was not a coincidence that this evil possessed man was found in a house of worship. Most demon possessed are found among the fringes of the most religious. Their religion is their god, not the God of their religion. They know who God is, but they do not know Him as He is. They are inordinately fearful of the wrath of their belief systems than they are reverently fearful of the justice of God. They are inevitably self-absorbed. Many have a great appearance of righteousness, but it is by all means a self-righteousness. They are persistently judgmental, always finding fault. As soon as you deal with one area of their grumblings, they slip to another. You cannot and should not attempt to deal with their criticisms and protests. These are not their grievances. These "evil" complaints cannot be counseled away. They must be delivered. The fruit is not the source; a root of sin is the source.
