Title

Getting Rid Of Old Baggage

Scripture
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
(2 Corinthians 5:17)
Devotional
There will always be things in our lives that must become old, that is, they must change or be done away with. I call these things “Old Baggage.” These are the things we carry throughout life, things that are held dear or things that we believe to be important. “Old baggage” may be anything from a preference to a doctrine. There may have been a time, for example, that you preferred a certain type or style of music. You may have held to a certain teaching that you later found to be a doctrine of man and not of God. We must be willing to change in order to become new creations in Christ. We must be willing to rid ourselves of “Old Baggage.” It may be hard to relinquish the things of the past. However in order to grow and mature, we must allow some old things to pass away.
