Title

There Are Fools In The Office Of Honor

Scripture
As snow in summer and rain in harvest, So honor is not fitting for a fool.
(Proverbs 26:1)
Devotional
There are positions of honor and people of honor. Honorable positions hold their honor regardless of the one holding that position. However, the one holding that position may not be honorable. Therefore, we are to always honor the office, but not necessarily the office holder. For example, I would accept an invitation to an official meeting in honor of the office, but I would not accept an invitation to dine with an office holder who is a fool. There are offices to be honored: the office of president of the United States, the offices of the Senate and House of Representatives, the office of governor, the office of law enforcement, the office of pastor and teacher. Yet, there are people who hold these offices not deserving of honor outside of their office. There is a difference and the difference must be handled wisely, because honor is not fitting for a fool.
