Title

There Is Hope For The Fool

Scripture
Do not answer a fool according to his folly, Lest you also be like him.
(Proverbs 26:4)
Devotional
Foolish comments, foolish questions, and foolish conversations have a common bond, and that bond is sin. It is a sin to be foolish, because foolishness is a choice we make. One is not foolish if he is doing only what he knows to do. He may be uneducated, unlearned, or without understanding, but he is not necessarily foolish. The sin of foolishness is found in gossip, backbiting, and lies. When we listen to the gossip of a fool, and all gossip comes from the mouth of a fool, we are like him. When we permit backbiting about a friend, we are like the fool doing the backbiting. When we hear the lies of a fool without a rebuttal, we likewise are foolish. If you correct a fool, you may lose a fool as a friend. If your friend receives correction, you have delivered a fool from his folly, and there is hope for him.
