Title

We Disobey Because Of Unbelief

Scripture
And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who did not obey? So we see that they could not enter because of unbelief.
(Hebrews 3:18-19)
Devotional
When we look at these two verses of scripture, we have to conclude that the reason for disobedience is unbelief. Therefore, when we do not obey God, it is because we do not believe Him. As a matter of fact, unbelief is the cause of all disobedience. We do not hear instruction because we do not believe that it will direct us properly. Even a child’s disobedience is based in unbelief. Children do not obey their parents because they do not believe that their parents mean what they say. The same applies to obeying God. We do not obey God because we do not believe that He is going to do what He says. The only difference between parents and God is that most parents do not mean what they say. They only threaten. Therefore, our children grow up disobeying God because, like their parents, they do not believe His promises.
