Title

Philip

Scripture
Now the names of the twelve apostles are... Philip.
(Matthew 10:2-3)
Devotional
While Philip only appears in the lists of the twelve apostles in Matthew, Mark, and Luke, he figures prominently in four significant scenes in John's gospel. Each of these setting reveals his character and what it means to be a discipleship. It took only two words for Philip to become a disciple of Christ, "Follow Me." The first thing he did when called is call another, Nathanael. It was Philip who was challenged by Jesus to feed the five thousand. When certain Greeks wanted to meet Jesus, it was Philip along with Andrew who brought them to him. In one of the most powerful discourses of scripture, the fourteenth chapter of John's gospel, it is Philip who said to Jesus, "Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us." To which Jesus replied, "Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father.
