Title

You Have Violated The Perfect Law of God

Scripture
The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul.
(Psalm 19:7)
Devotional
Here we have the purpose of the law: to reveal the need for a Redeemer. The law in itself cannot save, because we are all violators of it. When we realize that we need to be converted from the wages of sin, we will understand the need for a Savior. It is for this reason that Christ had to come and satisfy the penalty for violating the perfect law of God. We are guilty. We are violators. "There is none righteous, no not one."[5] Christ did not come to make our lives better; He came to save us from the penalty of a just judgment. Christ is not an experiment for a good life. He is the justifier of the unjust. We are not saved from problems, trials and tribulations; we are saved from the wrath of God. When we see that we in ourselves cannot keep the law, we will then know that, "The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul." Thank God for the law, "I would not have known sin except through the law."[6]
