Title

Perfect Understanding

Scripture
Having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write to you an orderly account, most excellent Theophilus.
(Luke 1:3)
Devotional
Of all the ancient writers, Luke is considered to be one of the greatest historians. His accounts are detailed and accepted historically as well as doctrinally. Luke, the writer of both the Gospel that bears his name and the book of Acts makes the bold claim to have had "perfect understanding." This would be an arrogant statement if it were not true, but it is. All the writers of Holy Writ had this perfect understanding because as they wrote they knew that, "No prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit."[28] Furthermore the Bible itself clearly tells us, "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God." [29] Luke verified this to his noble friend Theophilus both in his Gospel and the book of Acts. From accurate history to God breathed scripture, the Bible is the Word of God written with perfect understanding.
