Title

Bless And Curse Not

Scripture
Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not be so.
(James 3:10)
Devotional
As soda and acid, vinegar and nitrate do not mix, neither should blessing and cursing. A kind word to the face is negated by an unkind reference to the back. If we are only kind when face to face, we are pretenders. If our words fail to edify, encourage or enlighten, they should be quenched. Whether speaking to a person or about a person our language is to remain the same. Everything we speak is to be spoken as if God were hearing, because He is. Therefore, let our speech be kind at all times. May our conversations be continually edifying. As the scripture says, “Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.” The next time you find yourself mixing blessing with cursing, remember the admonition, “My brethren, these things ought not be so.”
