Title

The Power of His Goodness

Scripture
Do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?
(Romans 2:4)
Devotional
We so often foolishly call for justice with regard to others when we all deserve condemnation. God in His rich goodness and patience has tolerated our times of ignorance waiting for us to repent.[31] We were not condemned when we deserved condemnation. We were not rejected when we merited rejection. God waited for us to see and understand His goodness. We are saved by His goodness, not His wrath and we are saved from His wrath by His goodness. Yet we are quick to condemn those who are still awaiting the understanding of His mercy. We who were liars, thieves and the like want God to judge those who are once as we were and often remain. Listen carefully, "The goodness of God leads you to repentance." We are furthermore told in the book of Galatians, "Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith."[32]
