Title

Becoming God's People

Scripture
The Jews had joy and gladness, a feast and a holiday. Then many of the people of the land became Jews, because fear of the Jews fell upon them.
(Esther 8:17)
Devotional
Our relationship to God is not based on our heritage or ancestry; it is based on our relationship with Him. We are told in the book of Romans, "He is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh; but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the Spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not from men but from God."[5] To be born a Jew is a special heritage; God has dealt with this nation of people in a special way throughout history. Nevertheless there is only one way to God and that is through Jesus Christ the Messiah and savior of the World. Whether Jew or Gentile, whether you have a great or humble linage, "There is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."[6] That name is Jesus, the Son of the living God.
