Title

We Help Up When They Fall Down

Scripture
Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.
(1 Thessalonians 5:11)
Devotional
This is to be the ministry of the church to the church. Here we have the purpose of spiritual gifts: "Even so you, since you are zealous for spiritual gifts, let it be for the edification of the church that you seek to excel."[29] Life is filled with trials and tribulations. We are often discouraged. Few if any of us need to be beaten down. Many if not most of us are hurting in one realm or another. Life is filled with sorrows, heartbreak and pain. Most folks need a ministry of compassion rather than the misery of indifference. Likewise we are to build each other up in the faith, not with flattery or patronization, but in genuine love and encouragement. Correcting is not always to be the revealing of wrongs; it is the enlightening of good. We are not to be salt in a wound that burns and cauterizes; we are to be a healing balm that sooths and comforts. We are not in the mortuary or demolition business; we are in the healing and building business.
