Title

There Is Great Liberty in God's Order

Scripture
Let a woman learn in silence with all submission. And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence.
(1 Timothy 2:41590)
Devotional
God has placed an order in His creation. With regard to a man and wife He has said from the beginning, "Your desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you."[36] This has no indication of bondage; it simply indicates order. The apostle Paul's admonition to Timothy (as found in our text) was with regard to the order to be observed in the corporate gathering of the believers. Neither this text nor any other indicates that a man is to lord over a woman. He is to lead, not lord. Every believer is to be subject. The scriptures are clear: "Remember those who rule over you, who have spoken the word of God to you, whose faith follow."[37] Furthermore, "I want you to know that the head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man, and the head of Christ is God."[38] God's order is only considered bondage to those who are in bondage. It is liberty to those who are in Christ.
