Title

Do We Hate Sin?

Scripture
Therefore all Your precepts concerning all things I consider to be right; I hate every false way.
(Psalm 119:128)
Devotional
The false way of which the psalmist repeatedly speaks is most likely in regard to those who apply God's Word incorrectly. These are those who malign God's precepts to fit their desires instead of adjusting their lives to fit God's Word. We are to hate the mutilation and mocking of scripture. "Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar."[1] The Word of God will never be archaic. It will never be outmoded nor does it have an expiration date. The commandments are as applicable today as they were when written. Fornication, adultery, idolatry and the like remain repulsive to God and should be likewise repulsive us. A great problem arises in our day; there is no longer a hatred for sin. Instead we have learned to tolerate it. We condone sin with excuses, tolerate it with reasoning and overlook it with ignorance. God does not. Therefore let us again learn to hate every false way, especially our own.
