Title

When Godliness Ceases And Faithfulness disappears

Scripture
Help, Lord, for the godly man ceases! For the faithful disappear from among the sons of men.
(Psalm 12:1)
Devotional
This seems to be the commentary of many in these latter days. I pray that it is not nor will be your commentary. Godliness and faithfulness are indeed uncommon commodities. The book of Proverbs says, “Most men will proclaim each his own goodness, but who can find a faithful man?” The rhetorical question’s answer would seem to be, few. What causes the godly to cease and the faithful to disappear? The answer in a word is “SIN.” Sin will always draw you away from the things of God. When sin comes in righteousness, godliness and faithfulness leaves. Here is how you know that there is sin in your life: you stop listening to godly counsel; your Bible reading becomes a drudgery; your prayer life is about nothing other than yourself; you begin to find all kinds of fault with your church; you become angry, resentful, prideful and bitter. When you find these symptoms in your life, cry-out like the psalmist, “Help, Lord.”
