The Prominence Of Praise

Scripture
I will declare Your name to My brethren; In the midst of the assembly, I will praise You. You who fear the Lord, praise Him!
(Psalm 22:22-23)
Devotional
The twenty-second Psalm declares the awesome suffering of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Yet this same Psalm proclaims the Saviors call to praise God. Christ as man praised His Father. We as heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ are to do likewise. As Christ declared His Father’s name to His brethren, we are to proclaim it to ours. As our Lord praised His Father in the assembly of the believers, we are to praise Him in our assemblies. There are basically two calls for the Christian: the first is to declare the gospel of Christ, which is “Jesus Christ and Him crucified.” The second is to praise and worship Him. These two ordinances of the church are to have the highest priorities. If we fail to proclaim the gospel and praise the gospel giver, we miss the whole purpose of the church of Jesus Christ. If we fail to heed these sacraments (Visible forms of God’s invisible grace) we fail to fear the Lord.
