Title

God Can Awaken The King

Scripture
That night the king could not sleep. So one was commanded to bring the book of the records of the chronicles; and they were read before the king.
(Esther 6:1)
Devotional
The book of Proverbs declares, “The king’s heart in the hand of the Lord, like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes.” What caused the king to awaken and read the book of the chronicles? Surely, it was the Lord. What moved the Lord? It was the fasting and praying of Esther, Mordecai and the rest of God’s people. I am sure that the demise of the Jews seemed certain. Nevertheless, the people prayed and God moved. He not only delivered them from the hand of evil Haman, He honored Mordecai and shamed Haman. When we realize that vengeance belongs to the Lord, the Lord’s vengeance will always bring about the honor of the just. Furthermore, God is always able to deliver. He can place an Esther in the kingdom “For such a time as this.” He can awaken the king to find the just, and He can bring honor to whom honor is due and humility to the one needing to be humbled.
