Title

Be An Artist Of Words

Scripture
A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.
(Proverbs 25:11)
Devotional
This proverb is not a license for flattery. Flattery is never fitly spoken. The right words at the right time, however, edify and encourage honestly. There are times that these apples of gold in settings of silver will not be received as such. Nevertheless, if they are ordered by the Holy Spirit and sent by the Son, they will glorify the Father. Fitly spoken words are to be spoken even if they are not received. However, our desire should be for the hearer. Therefore, we must choose our words prayerfully; present them carefully and speak them as eloquently as we are able. Edifying words are to be framed as if they were golden. The silver framing is the presentation. The words are to be the gold. What is said is more important than how it is said. Gold is of more value than silver. Nevertheless each is important. Therefore, learn to be an artist of words.
