Title

When To Pay The Price

Scripture
By faith Moses...refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter...esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward.
(Hebrews 11:24-26)
Devotional
By faith Moses would not compromise for the self indulgence of “Buy now and pay later.” He, by faith, waited for his gratification. This may seem like a trivial analogy; nevertheless, we often succumb to the need to satisfy our lust by purchasing things we cannot afford instead of waiting until we can justly receive the reward of our labor. If we cannot be obedient in the realm of debt, how can we expect to succeed in our goals and dreams. If we are unable to control a plastic credit card, how can we manage the true business of life. Moses could have enjoyed life in Pharaoh’s court and paid later, yet he chose to pay the price first and enjoy its benefits later. The first choice would have been pleasurable for certain, but the latter choice proved to be of eternal value. If Moses would have remained with Pharaoh, we most likely would have never heard of him.  He did not stay there and thus he is one of the most famous men of all time, for he walked with God.
