Title

Your Heart Will Fool You

Scripture
He who trusts in his own heart is a fool, but whoever walks wisely will be delivered.
(Proverbs 28:26)
Devotional
Jeremiah says it this way, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked, who can know it?” We must be very careful when judging others, because judgment most often begins in the heart. How you feel about someone is more than likely not spiritual discernment, but a judgmental attitude of the heart. Therefore, we are not to trust in how we feel about a matter. We are to trust the truth of a matter. I have learned in my judging that there is always at least one thing I do not know. It is for this reason that we are to be very slow to judge another. Remember when you were young? I am sure there were times that you felt like you were in love, but it was only infatuation. Aren’t you glad that you did not trust your feelings? Walk wisely. Check your emotions with facts. You can be sure that if your feelings are contentious and bitter that you are trusting in a foolish heart.
