Title

I Have Heard Of You

Scripture
The king spoke, and said to Daniel... “I have heard of you, that the Spirit of God is in you...”
(Daniel 5:13–14)
Devotional
Daniel never sought his own glory. He only sought to obey his God.  If Daniel had exulted himself, he not only would have perished in the lion’s den, he would never have been known. Daniel’s obedience began when he appealed to the chief of the captives not to eat defiled food. This was a simple act. Nevertheless, all greatness begins with simple acts. When we, likewise, obey the things of the Lord and walk in all His ways, He will exult us in due time. Godliness is recognized because it is so scarce. If we would dare to obey God at His word, it will then be said of us, “I have heard of you.” Therefore, do not seek your own recognition, seek the recognition that comes from obedience to God. Serve Him with all your heart. Do not fear what man can do to you. Whether in a fiery furnace or a den of lions, God is able to deliver you, because the Spirit of God is in you.
