Title

Starting Points

Scripture
And these are the journeys according to their starting points.
(Numbers 33:2)
Devotional
There are few things sadder than a person who has dreams and goals but will not start their journey. They talk about the destination, but never begin the trip. Every journey must have a starting point. Every endeavor must have a beginning. We simply cannot get there without going there. The children of Israel began their journey in Egypt, the land of bondage. Throughout their journey, they had new beginnings. These were opportunities to start afresh. They were new starting points for new journeys. Often they wanted to turn around and go back to Egypt, just like many of us do when the going gets tough. Starting points are crucial to our success. Each of us will experience many in our lives. Each will require a choice. Some will choose to go back to Egypt. Others will simply stop their journey and die in their wilderness. A few like Joshua and Caleb will see their starting point as a springboard for the rest of their journey. These are the few who will get to the Promised Land.

Defining:  You cannot move forward without knowing where you have begun. Without a “Starting Point,” there is no direction. The great “Staring Point” for all is, “You must be born again,” John 3:7.

Referencing: “So they started out for the first time according to the command of the Lord by the hand of Moses,” Numbers 10:13.

Applying: Where do you wish to go; what are your dreams and goals? If you know, make today your “Starting Point.”
