So Shall You Be Established

Scripture
A man is not established by wickedness, But the root of the righteous cannot be moved.
(Proverbs 12:3)
Devotional
Security is not necessarily something we attain, but something we establish. No matter how secure someone may appear on the outside, unless they are established on the inside, they will eventually be moved from their false sense of security. On the other hand, security that is established on righteousness cannot be moved. It matters not life’s situation, those who are established in Christ are established on a sure foundation.
Whenever we attempt to be established by circumventing His righteousness we will fail. Anything that has ever been considered established has been done through time and effort. There are no short cuts to long lasting security. “Believe in the Lord your God, and you shall be established.”(1)
Therefore, let us establish our lives in Christ’s righteousness. He is the root of righteousness. No short cuts. No wickedness and no lying to ourselves. If we do this we shall not be moved, but we will be established.

Thought For The Day
“No belief system can be faulted by the fact that it rests on unproved assumptions; what can and must be faulted is the blindness of its proponents to the fact that this is so.” Lesslie Newbigin (1909-1998) missionary, theologian and statesman, Foolishness to the Greeks
Questions To Ponder
Evening Text
Defining:  To be biblically established is to be secure in Christ and Christ alone. Matthew Henry’s Commentary says, “Though men may advance themselves by sinful arts, they cannot settle and secure themselves. But those who by faith are rooted in Christ, are firmly fixed.”

Referencing: “In righteousness you shall be established; You shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear; And from terror, for it shall not come near you,” Isaiah 54:14.

Applying: Do not forget who you are in Christ. If you are His, you are established. Walk in that security.
