Title

The Word Stands Alone

Scripture
Whatever I command you, be careful to observe it; you shall not add to it nor take away from it.
(Deuteronomy 12:32)
Devotional
It is not God’s command and your opinion. It is God’s command and your obedience. There is a key word in our text that I wish for you to take note, that word is “Careful.” To be careful is to be filled with care. We are to care very much about our responsibility with regard to the Word of the Lord. We are to be very careful not to delete any portion of it based on customs or traditions. These do change, but God’s word does not change. When we fail to heed the Word of the Lord, through carelessness. It is because we care less than we should. We are to be careful not to add our opinions to it or take away from it because we disagree with it. God never said that we had to like the law of the Lord. He did say however that we are to love it and cherish it, and above all obey it. Therefore, be careful not to add the traditions of men, or the opinions of the world to the Word of the Lord. Be careful to observe it.
