No matter what plan is in our hearts, the words of our mouths will eventually reveal the truth of our character. Sooner or later we will speak the truth. We can devise all kinds of schemes and plots in our hearts, but our mouths will eventually betray us. The best thought plans of the heart can not stand against the words of our mouths. God has chosen to us our speech to reveal our nature and the truth of our motives. The scriptures are clear, “Be sure your sin will find you out.” Our mouths will expose our thoughts, beliefs, and philosophies. We cannot hide who we really are. It is for this reason that James instructs us, “Let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak.” Because our mouths will reveal our hearts, We are to give our hearts to the Lord. He has a way of purifying the hardest and most deceitful of hearts. The words of our mouths can be the truths of our hearts.
