Title

Attention to a Fault

Scripture
When Jesus saw him lying there… He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?”
(John 5:6)
Devotional
Most everyone likes attention. We like to be recognized for our successes and noticed for a job well done. These are the positive or bright sides of attention. However, there is a dark side of attention. There are people who will do just about anything to get it. There is the flamboyant showoff and the flashy boaster. Then there are those who wear their illnesses as badges of honor. They are sure to let every one know of their aliments. They use their sickness, real or not, to draw attention to themselves. Then there is even a darker side of the attention seeker. These are people who will go to the point of making themselves repulsive for a bit of notice. This is “Negative attention.” They will accept a rebuke or even being shunned as a form of attention. They are extremely unhappy people, void of understanding and without the knowledge of the love of God. They may need to be asked, “Do you want to be made well?”
