Title

The Joy of Sacrificial Giving

Scripture
The king said…”No, but I will surely buy it from you for a price nor will I offer burnt offerings to the Lord my God with that which costs me nothing.”
(2 Samuel 24:24)
Devotional
Again we see the integrity of David. He desired for his offerings to be sacrificial. He wanted them to have value. It is easy to give that which costs us nothing. It is not difficult to give away things we no longer need or use. It is not very difficult to give from our abundance. However, to give from our need or our want is the noblest way of giving. The greatest sacrificial way of giving is giving that which cost us time. Time is our greatest commodity. Our finances are usually a great measure of our time. When we give financially we are giving a representation of our time. It has been estimated that when David gave an offering to build the temple, the monetary value of his gift was the equivalent of 3.28 billion dollars. He was able to give this amount in his old age because he gave sacrificially in his younger age.
