Title

Let Christ Rule and Reign

Scripture
If we let Him alone… everyone will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and nation.
(John 11:48)
Devotional
Humanistic elitism fears Christ just as the Pharisees feared Him. For like the Pharisees of old, they realize that for Christ to rule and reign in their lives they will have to relinquish their egotism. This likewise is the fear of many Christians. If we let Christ have full reign in our lives we may lose our place and acceptance in society. So we deal with Christ with mediocrity and platitudes. We are more fearful of what others think about our relationship with Christ than what Christ thinks about our relationship with Him. So when we are asked to pray publicly, we pray generically. Instead of referring to the Creator by name, we allude to a higher power. I would rather the world take away my place and nation than for Christ to remove me from my place and His kingdom. We are to desire that Christ rules and reigns so that everyone will believe in Him.
