No Compromising Integrity

The man of God said to the king, “If you were to give me half your house, I would not go with you.

Devotional
It is hard to find integrity in service. The Lord directed this one called “The man of God” to bring a message to the king and leave. He was to travel in one way and out another. This was the simplicity of his service. I want to be very careful in judging this one called “A man of God.” Nevertheless, I have some questions. Why did he not simply tell the king, “I cannot stay, the Lord has directed me to leave?” Why did he stop on his way back? And why did he believe man over God? When God directs us, only God can change that direction. There is a great warning here. No matter how inviting a compromise may sound or how spiritual the one doing the enticing, we are not to compromise the directions of the Lord. This man of God did and lost his life. Let us serve the Lord in the highest integrity, not wavering to then left or to the right. Let us remain focused on the task at hand.
