Title

What God Does Not Endure

Scripture
The one who has a haughty look and a proud heart, him I will not endure.
(Psalm 101:5)
Devotional
The rebellious rolling of the eyes, the scornful shaking of the head and the insulting curling of the lips inevitably express the attitude of the heart. These gestures define what our text calls “a haughty look.” God frowns upon condescending gestures and disdainful attitudes. They are judgments made through the realms of pride and arrogance. For the most part, people who make them add insult to their actions by denying them. It is easier to shrug the shoulders than to seek a solution. It takes less effort to roll the eyes than to listen, and shaking the head is easier than thinking. These mannerisms are the fruit of a sinful lazy disposition. Therefore, the next time you find your countenance corroborating a cocky attitude remember that just as you are not enduring another, God is not enduring you.
