Title

We Are No Match For The Troubler

Scripture
Give us help from trouble, for the help of man is useless.
(Psalm 108:12)
Devotional
In our text, the word “Trouble” is often translated adversary or enemy. Therefore, the psalmist is saying that help from man cannot stand against the adversary, the accuser of the brethren, who is the devil. When this enemy comes in like a flood, there is only one who can raise up a standard against Him, the Spirit of the living God. All the knowledge, wisdom and authority of man cannot stand up against this foe. Satan and his conspirators are not to be toyed with; they are the epitome of trouble. Even Michael the archangel did not bring an accusation against him but simply aid, “The Lord rebuke you.” We could gather all our most spiritual friends together and we would be no match for him. If the highest-ranking angels have problems with him, what could we possible do? Let us not be foolishly arrogant. Let us stand and say that the battle belongs to the Lord.
