When The Red Robin Comes…

Scripture
As a door turns on its hinges, so does the lazy man of his bed.
(Proverbs 26:14)
Devotional
As a child, one of my favorite songs was Red Robin by Al Jolson. One of the lines went, “Wake up, wake up, you sleepy-head; get up, get up, get out of bed. Live, laugh, love and be happy.” (If you know the song, you’ll be singing it the rest of the day). It is true. If we practice good sleeping habits, we will enjoy life more fully. God has designed us for proper rest, not perpetual rest. There are some folks who claim to be night people (the Bible has much to say about people of the night). I promise, if you get up at a decent time every day, you will become a day person. We are likewise designed to be at our best after a night of rest and fasting. The body is refreshed; the toxins diminished and the mind brightened. The psalmist said, “My voice You shall hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning I will direct it to You, and I will look up.”
