Title

We Cannot Change History

Scripture
I do not count myself to have apprehended, but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead.
(Philippians 3:13)
Devotional
When we realize who penned these words, we should stand amazed. It was the apostle Paul, the great lion of God and the writer of at least thirteen of the twenty-seven New Testament books. He saw the resurrected Christ. He heard His voice and experienced His presence. Nevertheless, he understood that he had not yet arrived. Paul did not count past victories and successes. The only purpose of the past was to prepare him for the future. He simply did not look back. He kept his eyes on his target, his goal. He never succumbed to nostalgia. He lived his life as if every day was the good old days, and that the best days were yet to come. Let us, likewise, keep our heads out of the sand of the past. Let us keep our eyes fixed on the goal before us. We cannot change history, but we can change the future. Let us, therefore, be about the business of doing just that.
