Designed To Work

Scripture
For we hear that there are some who walk among you in a disorderly manner, not working at all, but are busybodies.
(2 Thessalonians 3:11)
Devotional
You will seldom, if ever, find a busy person who is a busybody. Idleness and gossip, laziness and meddling go hand in hand. The text is clear, if you do not work, you are disorderly. I am not necessarily talking about being employed; I am talking about being productive in society. Whether self-employed or retired, we are to be about the business of working. Work may be a four-letter word to some, but it is what God calls the things that He does. If you find yourself finding fault and talking out of turn, you may need to get busy. Idle time makes for an idle mouth. It seems that those who have time on their hands will sooner or later fall into a disorderly lifestyle. If, for example, you retire from employment, get busy at life. Serve, discover, learn and accomplish. Never retire from life. If you do you will either die or become a busybody.
