Title

Look For Truth, Not Agreement

Scripture
The time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers.
(2 Timothy 4:3)
Devotional
In all of our endeavors, we must seek wise and godly counsel, not just agreement. Yet, for the most part, we do the reverse. We seek agreement, constantly looking for affirmation of our deeds. We do not want to know the truth because if we hear and listen to the truth we may have to change our behavior. So we look for teachers who teach what we want to hear and we seek those who will tickle our ears. And we wonder why we fail so miserably. Dare to find someone who will tell you the truth. Dare to listen with an ear that leans toward obedience. Measure all that you do against the Word of God. Always seek the godliest of counsel. Surround yourself with men and women who unashamedly follow the ways of the Lord. Build your life upon the truth of the Word, not the lust of the flesh. Seek right and then do right.
