Title

Like mother, like Daughter

Scripture
Everyone who quotes proverbs will use this proverb against you: “Like mother, like daughter.”
(Ezekiel 16:44)
Devotional
There is at least a two-fold lesson to our text: the first being that nobody understands daughters like mothers. The second is close to the first: daughters will adopt many of the mother’s characteristics. Here is the reason that mothers are often harder on daughters than fathers, and likewise why fathers are tougher on sons than mothers. The mother understands how the daughter is thinking and why she is thinking the way that she is. The father does not have a clue what the daughter is thinking and why she is the way that she is. Therefore daughters usually have their fathers wrapped around their fingers and in the palm of their hands. Likewise with mothers and sons. Therefore listen to your husbands with regard to your sons, and heed your wives with regard to your daughters. Remember, you were once a son or a daughter. You were once like mother, like daughter and like father, like son.
