Title

The Political Climate of Our Day

Scripture
They only consult to cast him down from his high position; they delight in lies; they bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly.
(Psalm 62:4.)
Devotional
This verse surely defines the political climate of our day. Whether it is in the civic realm, the business community, or even the church, there seems to be a desire to cast down success and leadership. It is hard to believe the pundits, commentators, and speechmakers. It appears that it is not a matter of who is telling the truth, but who is lying less. One would think that many simply delight in lies. National leaders bless with pomp and protocol as they spew flattering platitudes, but inwardly curse.
At this writing America is at war fighting against terrorism. All nations and their leaders rhetorically denounce terrorism and claim to stand with the president of these United States. Nevertheless, "They only consult to cast him down from [their] high position[s]; they delight in lies; they bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly." This may be the way national governments operate, but it does not have to be so in your business, workplace, or especially, your church.
