Title

At Your Service

Scripture
There was a servant of the house of Ziba . . . David, the king said to him, “Are you Ziba?” He said, “At your service!”
(2 Samuel 9:2)
Devotional
I do not know if it is because the economy is doing well at this writing or that people are becoming less and less amiable. Curt, gruff, arrogant, attitudes seem to me the norm among many in the “service business”. I am an easy mark when it comes toservice. When eating out, I can handle mediocre to poor food as long as I receive good service. A little kindness, a little regard and politeness go a very long way and receives a very good tip. When was the last time someone said to you, “At your service.”? I am sure that Ziba the servant started it, but Zelda the waitress may have ended it. I may not be entitled to receive good service, but I sure am responsible to give it. The customer may not always be right, but he or she is the customer; and if you want good customers, it would be wise to give good service. “At your service” is not only good commercial business, it is godly business.

Thought For The Day

“I surveyed my church to see if people saw a relationship between ministering to others and spiritual growth. When asked, ‘To what extent has your ministry or service to others affected your spiritual growth?’, 92 percent answered positively.” Eric Swanson What You Get from Giving (Leadership Journal, Spring 2003)
