Title

Where Are You?

Scripture
Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?”
(Genesis 3:9)
Devotional
God knew where Adam was. He knew where he was physically, mentally and, above all, spiritually. God asked, “Where are you?” for Adam’s sake. In the following verses God also asked, “What is this you have done?” The apostle Paul instructed the Corinthians, “Let a man examine himself. ” God knows our state, and He wants us to know it also. The Lord God is likewise asking you, “Where are you?” “What have you done?” Just as Adam could not hide from his Creator, neither can we. Just as Adam could not escape his sin, neither can we. When Adam was confronted with his disobedience, he blamed his wife for his deed, adding to his sin. Therefore, Adam fell, was thrown out of the garden, and brought sin to mankind. We do not have to follow the ways of the fall. We have an advocate, Jesus Christ the righteous. He is able to not only deliver us from the fall, He is able to keep us from falling. “Where are you?” What have you done?”

Definition: When God asks, “Where are you?” He is asking that you would realize what you have done and where you have gone from His presence. He does so not to condemn, but to bring you to repentance and right standing.
