What Do You Think?

Scripture
The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the Lord, but the words of the pure are pleasant.
(Proverbs 15:26)
Devotional
What we think matters a great deal; what we think we will eventually say and possibly do. Therefore, let us learn to control our thoughts. If we do, they will serve us well. If and when froward thoughts come our way, let us reject them. If and when judgmental, lustful or evil thoughts rise up in our minds, let us quickly quench them. This we can do by focusing on those things that are pleasing to the Lord. What are those things? Philippians 4:8 tells us some of them, "Whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy--meditate on these things.[1]  Let us not allow our minds to aimlessly wander, but let us give direction to our thoughts.  We have that power.  We have that mandate.
