Title

No Other Name

Scripture
The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and they are safe.
(Proverbs 18:10)
Devotional
There is no higher name on which to call than the name of the Lord. And His name is Jesus. Never has a name invoked more passion than the name of Jesus. It stirs the emotions, causes joy, and brings anger. The name of the Lord brings peace to those who love it and animosity to those who despise it. Some run into it while others run from it. The name of Jesus must be reckoned with. It will flow from your lips as praise or spew as a curse. The mere mention of it brings a response. The unrighteous run from it while the righteous run into it. It is a strong tower for the believer and a wall of offense to the nonbeliever. For those who are being saved it is the righteousness of God. It can be whispered as a prayer or shouted as praise. It brings the angels of heaven and drives away the demons of hell. Never has a name had more power. “For there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”(1)

Thought For The Day
“In the classic Your God is Too Small, J.B. Phillips says we tend to give God many names which aren’t actually his names: managing director, puppeteer, magician, resident policeman, fun-hater, pie-in-the-sky, and others. Today we have added ‘health and wealth bringer’ and others.” Katie Wiebe, Christian Leader (Dec.6, l989)

Referencing: “My lovingkindness and my fortress, my high tower and my deliverer, my shield and the One in whom I take refuge,” Psalm 144:2.

Applying: When you pray, pray to the Father in the Name of Jesus. Thus you will be praying in the authority of the living Son of God to whom all power and authority has been given (Matthew 28:18).
