Title

One In Twelve

Scripture
These were the sons of Israel: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, Dan, Joseph, Benjamin, Naphtali, Gad, and Asher.
(1 Chronicles 2:1-2)
Devotional
Of Israel’s twelve patriarchs, about which do you know anything? You may know a little of the escapades of Judah; or the love Jacob had for Benjamin. However, of the twelve patriarchs, there is only one who made a positive difference on God’s people---Joseph. I do not mean to judge the other eleven; nevertheless we know nothing of their lives or their impact. Only one, a dreamer by the name of Joseph, left an indelible mark on the lives of history. That ought to say something about dreamers. Just about every great event in the Bible came because of a dream. From Abraham to Daniel and from Mary to Peter, God has chosen to use dreamers to make a difference in the world. Therefore, dare to dream great dreams for the things of God. Dare to be a Joseph or a Mary. To be numbered with the twelve patriarchs or the twelve disciples would be a great honor, but to be one in twelve, well, that would honor God.

Thought For The Day
“I go out to preach with two propositions in mind. First, every person ought to give his life to Christ. Second, whether or not anyone else gives him his life, I will give him mine.” Jonathan Edwards (1703-1758)
