Title

Have You Been With Jesus?

Scripture
Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled, And they realized that they had been with Jesus.
(Acts 4:13)
Devotional
All of the education this world has to offer cannot compare with the wisdom of those who have been with Jesus. Education is a very good thing. We all could use a little more of it. However, education void of Christ is foolishness in the sight of God. Education without Christ produces arrogance while being with Jesus brings boldness. Education can teach about creation, while those who have been with Jesus know the Creator of the universe. Education can train in the sciences, while those who have been with Jesus know the source and end of all science. Education can train in the languages, while those who have been with Jesus know and understand the language of the Word of God. The world may perceive that you are uneducated and untrained. However, when people see that you have been with Jesus, they will marvel.

Elizabeth Bunyan’s courageous defense of her husband, John Bunyan, and of her beliefs, gives her a place in the early history of the Dissenting Churches. During Bunyan’s six-year imprisonment for preaching without a license, Elizabeth was his most persistent advocate. In 1661 she managed to appear before the Court of Assize, and the poverty-stricken, uneducated young mother gave a spirited testimony before the hostile judges.” “The Baptists,” Christian History Magazine
