What promises were made to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, before the giving of the law on mount Sinai? God promised them a Savior and the Holy Spirit.[36] He promised salvation by grace through faith.[37] Salvation has always been through and in the promise. As you and I look back to Calvary, those who preceded Calvary looked forward to it. I see our text likewise applying to the tithe. Some would say that the tithe was an Old Testament tax, a law issue. But not so, Both Jacob and Abraham gave tithes to the Lord. This was confirmed again four hundred years and thirty years before the law. The tithe like salvation is a grace issue, not a legal one. It is by no means a work. It is by all means a blessing. "Remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said,
