Title

Making Things Last

Scripture
Forty years You sustained them in the wilderness; they lacked nothing; their clothes did not wear out and their feet did not swell.
(Nehemiah 9:21)
Devotional
God is able to and does sustain His people. The prophet Malachi tells us that God, "Will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, so that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field."[28] King David said it this way, "I have been young, and now am old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his descendants begging bread."[29] Without doubt, as long as we follow the Lord and do His bidding, we will never be forsaken. God is able to both preserve and protect. He can and does watch over the simplest of things on our behalf. If we would but take the time to look around and see His preserving hand, we would see and know His presence. However, Malachi and David share two caveats that facilitate this preservation: "The tithe is the Lords," and that righteousness is obtained from obedience to the Lord.
