Faith Grows

Scripture
So the churches were strengthened in the faith, and increased in number daily.
(Acts 16:6)
Devotional
It says in Hebrews that, “Without faith it is impossible to please God.” Therefore, it takes faith to grow. God cannot bless that which is done outside of faith. Romans says it this way, “Whatever is not from faith is sin.” Always remember, faith is a combination of believing, trusting, and obeying. If anyone of these three attributes is removed from faith’s equation you do not have biblical faith. We must believe in what we are doing. We must trust that it is the right thing to do, and we must obey God’s standard of conduct in our endeavors. When we by faith seek the things of God, and likewise work out our faith, we will be strengthened and experience increase. There is no stagnation in the Kingdom of God. We may occasionally plateau. However, there is no life on the plane. Faith is always ascending. Quite simply, faith grows.

Defining: To be “Strengthened in the faith,” is to exercise our faith by believing, trusting, and obeying God at His Word.

Referencing: “I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, ‘The just shall live by faith.’” Romans 1:16-17

Applying: It takes no or little faith to respond to the certainty of the senses. Therefore, let us believe God when it is not clearly seen, trust Him when it is not simple to understood, and obey Him when it is not easy to follow.
